weights and numbers etc.

If you were looking at me right now you might see a lightbulb over my head. I think I finally get this whole "payload" thing. I went through all of this research (and much easier somehow) when we bought our 2000 F250 V-10. It was definately enough truck for our trailer. Here's the CATCH - we had it equipped with an optional "camper package" that essentially gave us the payload of a SRW F350 - duh!
So now we're looking for an older used truck and I'm so sick of everyone saying "oh yea, this truck will pull anything". I'm plugging the numbers into my Excel spreadsheet, and NO it won't.
Specs, especially on older vehicles are hard to find. If anyone has charts or websites with specs that they can share with me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Carol

Carol, go over to Diesel Forum - The Diesel Stop.com forum (for Fords), join, and ask your question. I've got the wrong computer with me and I don't have the web addresses for GM and Dodge, but they're out there. These forums may have topic areas that can assist you in your research, too. David

you can also go to Trailer Life Magazine: Follow the Road to Adventure and then go to the TOWING GUIDE link. They go back quite few years.

I found some useful information at MSN.com under autos. Not the easiest site to use - a lot of clicking to get the info you need, but once you get the hang of it, it works.
