Which weight distribution setup do you recommend?

Hello,

I just purchased a travel trailer and am now looking to get a weight distribution hitch. My trailer is 23 ft long and weighs about 5000 lbs loaded. I don't want to buy a cheap weight distribution hitch but I definitely don't have the funds to get an expensive one either. I am hoping to get something that comes with sway control but if not then I'll add it later on. Below are the hitches I've been looking at in order of what I'm thinking about buying with the most likely on top so please let me know if you have any feedback on any of them. I picked out three on the cheaper side and three in the mid-range side. Any help would be much appreciated.

I would avoid any round bar WDH, they sit lower and are prone to dragging at gas station exits and such.
Additionally, those friction sway bars that mount on a small ball on the hitch head are junk. You'll want the anti-sway integrated with your trunnion bars.
The 750 pound trunnion equipped Curt looks like a good value.

Easy one... Equil-I-zer... best value in the hitch market for TT's as far as I am concerned.

Round bar with friction sway control for 14 years. 2 different TT's and 2 different trucks from So Cal to Sandpoint Id. Wind, rain, and many mountain roads to so cal desert dirt roads. Still using it and no issues. But I do like the looks of the Blue Ox Sway Pro.

Reese dual cam once set up they work great and you can find them on Craigslist for around $300

I would step up to the $500+ range. I use an equalizer. Blue ox rates well. As does andersen no sway.

That isn't the exact one I was looking at, but it's a good choice as well. Once you get it set up it'll be easy to connect up and will do a good job for you.

Everybody has their favorite hitch and most of them are good to very good. The trick is to find the one that works and fits into your budget. As with most things, the very low priced units are generally entry level and will. Be replaced with a more capable or easier to use unit in pretty short order.
ETrailer.com has a lot of YouTube videos showing how to install and use different hitches. They are a good way to see how difficult or easy different hitches are to use.

Skip the first three cheap hitches. Not good enough.

The Strait-Line you linked to is not complete - it doesn't include the shank.
You have to have the adjustable shank. You can buy it separate for about $100. Or Reese sells the complete Strait-Line under a different part number and for more that the one you linked to.

I use an Equal-I-zer. Works very well. very noticeable difference between with it and without.

I also like the "no chains" I like that it has two more friction points instead.

Just went from a Husky to Equal-i-zer, much better. Tow an 8000 lbs bumper pull.
