Wyoming Law - Immediate Vehicle Registration for Temporary/Seasonal Workers

Thought I would point this “tidbit” out since I was pulled over twice in the first 30 days of working outside Pinedale, WY around 10 years ago (I was only located there for a 6 month oil & gas project). The state law still stands ... so be careful ... especially as a seasonal camp host or RV Park worker in the smaller towns. See link below to the Wyoming State Law.

Wyoming Law - Immediate Vehicle Registration for Temporary/Seasonal Workers

WY is not the only state that does this... MT does as well.

You may be surprised to know GA allows temporary employees 30 days without being registered in GA

How else are they going to count all the 3/4 ton trucks towing 40,000lbs?

Used to work nuclear plant outages as an Ironworker before I retired. A friend got a ticket in CA for being there over 30 days without registering his vehicle there.

I was in that specific county in WY for about 10 years thru the energy boom '80-'90. That law has been around for some time, and our company complied with their vehicles for employees. The temporary/seasonal workers test the local infrastructure to the point of collapse, as is the case in any 'boom' period. I don't feel it is any different than most other states that have some similar requirement if you are gainfully employed in that state but not a resident. And the workers who lived in Evanston (Uinta Co) that actually worked across the UT border had to pay UT income tax on their pay.

I am a volunteer and don't consider myself a worker so I wonder if I need a temporary workers license.

I wouldn't sweet it to much. They'll pull over an illegal immigrate a time or two and the ACLU and Southern Poverty Law Center will file an injunction in federal court.

What are they supposed to do? Have no dates so people can move some place for how ever long they want without registering? I have no problem with codifying a period of time after which they need to register.

I'm wondering if free RV parking etc for long term volunteers would count as compensation.

Free RV Parking has to be compensation.
