The "new" RV bug hit my wife and I this weekend and we stopped at a dealer. 4 hours later, we were filling out the paperwork on a 2009 Palomino Stampede S-195sd. So right now, we wait on financing (tomorrow).
I'm pulling with a 2001 Ford E-350 Superduty Chateau Wagon, 5.4L V-8, 3.73:1 gears. I will use either a Reese WD or Dual Cam Hitch (both with 750# bars).
So since this is a non-warranty purchase, I would like to hear from some owners of Palomino in general, as well as Palomino Stampede owners.
Do the bunk ends leak when driving down the road?
Do the cables pull off the door or wall?
Are there sway problems with the shorter models, or S-195sd model?
Any construction issues with walls, floor, roof?
Thanks a lot!
George

Looks good, George. While in size, this unit may be slightly smaller than the Apache, but those two double bed slide-outs will eliminate having to convert the dinette and sofa to a bed every night.
Looking at the specs, the fresh/gray/black water tank capacities seem rather generous for a trailer that size considering my Jayco's waste tanks are only 44 gal. for each of the waste and 35 (water tank only, not including HWT) on the fresh.
I'm assuming this unit is on a tandem axle (I couldn't find a picture of the S-195sd on Palomino's website. If so, I don't think towing it would be any different than the Apache you're presently towing.

Thanks for posting the links, George. I figured there'd be some dealer out there that had lots of pix of the unit you're considering. I just didn't know which one. Thanks again. Hope everything works out.

Congrats on the new camper, George. It sure looks like a nice unit & having the 2 real beds will be easier on ya. Enjoy!

Our new (to us) hybrid TT is setting in our driveway now. Interstate driving MPG increased from 7ish to 10.8 with the A/C running the whole way.
gm
P.S.: And I want to thank Jim Slifka for coming and going up on the roof for me to check things out there.

What? You mean you didn't pack it up right away and take it to a state park tonight to break it in right? You're slippin', George
BTW- Did it pull any different compared to your old TT?
Best 'O luck with it!

Well ya gotta sleep in it tonight. It's probably raining where you are too (it sure is here!) so what better way to check for leaks!

Hi George/Jodi,
Congratulations on the new camper We were just looking at the pictures in the links you posted. The double bunk looks really nice for the family. Having the bed areas you can keep set up are nice.
Have fun with all the process of figuring out where everything goes in the new camper. It's always a challange the first couple trips figuring out where things are.
