Question Jay Feather - no shower surround?

We are looking at buying a 2012 Jay Feather Ultra Lite 24T and are very surprised that Jayco did not put any kind of shower surround in. The dealer is telling us that Jayco says the vinyl coated wall board is sufficient.

Has anyone had a surround installed in their Jay Feather Ultra Lite?

Does anyone have an Ultra Lite where they use the shower "as is"? How are the walls/seams holding up?

My Dutchmen dealer told us the same thing.

My TT has the vinyl coated wallboard with a clear "tape" over the seam where the wallboard meets the shower floor. Used it "as is" all summer with no issues.

I am diligent about using a squeegee on the wallboard after a shower, although I don't know if I need to bother.

I was most worried that the weight of the user moving about in the shower would pull that seam tape away from the wallboard as we are pretty big people - think elephant in a phone booth. That has not been an issue, either.

We had the same thing on our 05' Dutchmen Aerolite hybrid. After 380 nights of camping over 7 seasons. It looked like new when we sold it earlier this year. Even with a few 100 showers taken, we never saw any deterioration of the vinyl wallpaper.

Our new 13' Aerolite hybrid does have the white plastic tub surround.

Thank you both for the posts. Makes me feel a little better. Originally the dealer said that they could order a tub surround from Jayco and install it. Now we are being told that they would have to put an after-market unit in and it would void the warranty... so we are going to go without.

Someone else had suggested wiping down the walls with a towel after using the shower. I think we'll try that.

Finally getting a chance to take the TT out for the first time this weekend! Can't wait!
