My wife and I went to look at a 2007 Kodiak 30BHSL today. I would like to hear from some folks who own Kodiak travel trailers. Please share any issues that you might have.

The trailer has Thule Smart RV pods on the exterior wall, but there are no accessories with the trailer. I found information on the Thule website that there is a shelf, hook, TV bracket, and table available. I think I would really like one or two shelves (there are 6 pods on the side of this trailer). Did Kodiak put the pods on all trailers even if that trailer didn't come with the Thule accessories?

Thanks,
George

Congrats on the new trailer Mike and family. I don't know anything about the Kodiak line. Sure hope you get to put a bunch on miles on it.

Ken

Ken, we didn't buy it yet--just kicked the tires today and had our trade-in appraised.

Tomorrow might be the day of decision.

George

George, The Kodiak units look nice and look well built, however I feel compelled to bring up the past and our experiences with Trial Lite. These folks seem to be ahead of the game a bit by actually weighing the units as they leave the production line - hopefully that is both the tounge and axles and not just the axles. 4800 lbs is very light for such a big TT - however you only have 1100 lbs of payload - remember this does not include water, batteries, and LPG - after you add those items in you probably have only 800 or so left for gear. Do you still have your alum griddle??

Hi Randy,

Yes, tongue weight is listed in my brochure....450# Yes, the NCC would be considerably less than the UVW in this case where the UVW is so low to start with.

But alas at the end of the day, we are still shopping.

George

Next on the list is a 2007 Fleetwood Highlander Avalon, 16' box, almost 29' open plus slide dinette.

George, I presume that you are looking for a unit with bunk beds as well as a queen bed along with the usual stuff. It looks like you have a reasonable Tow Vehicle so perhaps lightweight is not as important - is that right? Have you considered Jayco?

Randy,

We went shopping the local dealer's lots last week. We're looking at both new and used, appraising our trade-in, and comparing monthly payments.

I went shopping looking for shorter and lighter as criteria. My wife went shopping with me looking for more living area (seating area for rainy days in the campground).

The Kodiak was the one that my wife liked. The Fleetwood Highlander Avalon was the one that I liked.
