I went to the local dealer that we bought our popup from to inquire about hybrids. He said that they don't sell them because they have had leak problems where the canvas joins the camper. Is this true? Does anyone here have any probs with this?

He did say that if I wanted to move up he had a Fleetwood Highlander Niagra that he would sell me for just over $17K. Most of the MSRPs that I saw on the hybrids I was interested in were around $12-15K. He said it was because they lacked the quality. For the Fleetwood hybrid with 2 sets of bunks it was $17K.

Any thoughts?

Strangely enough, I was at a flea market yesterday talking with a couple who had a "hi-low". I mentioned that I had a hybrid and she said, "no way we'd have one...they leak!"
I've only had mine less than a year (even though it is a 2003 model) and haven't had a chance to use it as much as I would have liked, but the only evidence from the previous owner was from neglect and "stupidity". (He placed one of the mattresses between the canvas OUTSIDE when folding it in wet).
FYI, mine is a Starcraft and I don't see why hybrids would possibly leak any worse than pop-ups.

Find another dealer. I know several people with leak free hybrids. They also have no lack of quality. There are some very nice hybrids out there.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Especially since a lot of the hybrids, if not all, are made by companies that also make popups, so they should know what they are doing. I was thinking maybe it was the seal where they fold up and while they were stored they leak, but that would be easy enough for the manufacturer to figure out and correct.

Maybe it was the case of one hybrid leaking one time and now everybody thinks it is a big problem, you know how the grapevine works.

Thanks for the responses, I will keep looking.
