so i'm thinking of updating the countertop on my 2003 jayco 23b...i would like to do it myself as i'm kind of a cheapskate haha
anyone tried those coatings from hardware store? or should i buy a sheet of formica? or bite the bullet and have new ones made??

Get a piece of corion installed. Will make a big difference in looks

If I were to replace mine, weight would be one of the considerations

I've seen a lot of posts about Corion or other solid surface countertops cracking from the movement of the RV. I think a nice Formica top would look good and not crack like many other products do. Especially if it has a sink or stove cutout, leaving thin edges.

Have never had aroblem with my Corion in 7 years. Yes, there has been a couple of posts about cracking, but it appears the consesus has been that i proper instal was,the cause. As long as the materian is on a flat solid base and a generous bed of silicone is used there is not problems.

i really do like corian and have searched many posts after it was suggested, it seems to me that the prep for install is very important. for the most part i would love to have a nice polished top in my HTT but it will have to come down to cost in the end, what sparked this for me was the previous owner wasn't very attentive when dropping the dinette table for sleeping and the edges are all chewed up from the nylon thingys that are supposed to hold it in place, i can only assume the edge was sitting on top of them while his kids were on it to sleep. its kind of a big chunk so i think it will the expensive piece to do. aside from that do you think it would crack in that area? i dont anticipate anyone sleeping on the dinette but who knows.....i would rather have everything the same. i'm going to look around for some local suppliers and go from there but i'll be sure to post some pics when its all done! i have a large list of mods i'd like to do in the off season before spring. i bought the trailer late in the year and haven't even used it yet...LONGEST WINTER EVER!!!! haha

Just saw this string...Did you get the information you needed on this? Reason I ask is because in your first post you mention counters but in your last one you mention the dinette table. For a dinette table surface that will drop down into a bed I would not suggest Corian..would crack I would think, but Corian on plywood may work, but even better would be a nice piece of 3/4 furniture grade (higher ply count) plywood and formica on the top and edges (or hardwood on the edges even better).
