Pop Up Gizmos

Hello all,

I am new to the world of camping. We recently purchased a 2001 Keystone Bobcat hybrid. I have been slowly purchasing items that we will need. I live in the Southeastern U.S. and we plan on using our TT often to camp. I hear a lot about pop up gizmos. My question is it worth paying the money to purchase these? Are there other options that are just as good but a little cheaper? Thanks for the response in advance,

I use the high wind pop-up gizmos (the ones with the integrated buggies). I find them much easier to install and stay secure. I have found they do make a temperature difference, especially for afternoon naps. There are "cheaper" options, but for ease of installing and quality of material, I personally found the investment worthwhile. Others may not agree.

I spend 4 months a year living in my hybrid down in north western florida. In the winter months it can get quite cold at night. Tonight it will get down to 28 degrees.

I thought about the popup gizmos but thought I could come up with something cheaper ( just the way I am).

I purchased one the those heavy duty tarps that are brown on one side a silver on the other. This way I could use brown side up in cold weather to help absorb warmth from the sun and I put silver side up in summer to reflect heat.

When the night temps get cold, I have reflectix panels cut out that I zip into the bunk window/screens. The material used to zip up the windows is just canvas and the wind/cold air blows right through it. I also used duct tape to tape two 2'x12' lengths together to make a blanket that I can use under my tarp to hold heat in AND eliminate condesation on the inside of the tenting.

These have worked out great.

ALSO - The tarps keep the dirt from trees off and allow me to close up the end after a rain and not have it be wet. I don't mind the tarp being wet.
