Yep, a real possibility, the longer the cord the heavier it has to be to pass the power. I'm currently using a 100' cord rated at 20 amps to power my coaches convertor charger, ( TV & Sat system when I'm out there working ) and fridge when getting set to roll.
I have a 50 amp welder plug in the garage and have looked in to converting it and under ground wiring to the coach .

$$$$. Maybe when I win the lottery.

Hi Guys,

I know I started this topic last year but I have an update:

When my hybrid is plugged into shore power to my house, the breaker will trip. The thing that I noticed this year is that if I unhook the battery, the breaker does not trip. I have a brand new battery and it's fully charged, when I hook it up, the house breaker trips. Extra confused now.

Thats really odd. I have the same trailer as you, and I plug mine into an outlet in my garage, connected to a 15 amp breaker. (now you are making me wonder, and I should check again to be sure of the amperage) Mine is not a GFI breaker, and mine never trips. I have it plugged in right now, fridge on, and I have been going inside using all the lights and even the A/C for short times. What size battery do you have? I think the original was a group 24, and I put in a group 31 this year to help while boondocking. Im just wondering if the larger reserve capacity of the battery is making up for it somehow.

Two things, by code on modern buildings (Since it was added to the code) all outside outlets must be GFCI protected. one way to do this is a GFCI outlet in front of the outdoor outlet, or it can be a GFCI, another method is a GFCI breaker.. IF you have that kind... SOME RVs will trip it no matter due to wiring issues in the RV, may be converter design, inverter or ... a problem

Page 2:

TO make sure EVERYTHING IS OFF.
in the RV turn off ALL 120 volt Circuit Breakers. Now plug in a trouble light and the RV, light should be on.

Start turning on breakers,, Start with the main, then one at a time at like 10-30 second intervals, turn on each breaker till the light goes off.

Turn that breaker off. Reset house breaker and continue WITH THE NEXT BREAKER till the last breaker is on.. Then tell us which breaker(s) are off and we will see what else we can do for you.

Goneracin, are you using an extension cord from your shore power line to your garage? If so is it a heavy duty 30 amp cord? My battery is a group 24. It only trips on a GFI breaker but it's fine on a non GFI. Maybe this is normal... Also I just sold my house and bought another house but I have yet to plug it in here to try it. Will do in the next few days as I'm still unpacking.

Thanks! I will try this and post results. I sold my house and just moved into a bigger house but have yet to try these outlets. I will find out soon. At the old house I believe it was a GFCI in the electrical panel inside the house so maybe it was normal for my RV to trip it.

I plug mine in directly through the shore power line, using an adapter on the end of course. Never tried it with an extension cord, but I do have a heavy duty cord I could try and run it through.
