2016 Heartland Edge

Has anybody noticed this new offering from HL? I'm referring to the Edge 397.

I like the fact that they moved the side patio to the rear of the unit putting it off the toy hauler's garage vs the the cyclone, which has it off the main living area.

Also like the cabinets added to the garage. Makes it easy to convert to a kids bedroom or office. The 2 bathroom is a smarter concept as well by allowing two entrances to it and the loft ladder built into the lav door.

But I didn't notice any of the finer accoutrements, like auto-levelers. Also, just from the pics it seems a bit on the cheaper end. I don't know much about their "edge" line.

No longer full timing, but still camping 10 days at a time every other month.

Edge is brand new for Heartland and appears to be the lowest line of hauler they make. That title was previously held by the Torque. It will be missing many standards and options that their higher end lines come with. Some will be available as options and some won't. You'll have to compare all the standards and options and see how important the missing ones are to you. There will also be a price break when stepping down to the Edge. So, comparing what you loose and weighing it against the cost savings will help with your decision. I wouldn't worry about quality. The Edge won't be built to a lower standard than a Cyclone. It will just have lots less bells and whistles.

Well said taken...I've seen the new Edge models, but it's still a Heartland product. Right now with the QC issues that Heartland is having on almost all of their models...I still wouldn't consider a Heartland toyhauler. That's just me....buy at your own risk. There's a lot to choose from out there now and almost every manufacturer makes the same models with slight variations and the quality is much higher in some. Until the public quits buying what they're selling, Heartland won't address the problems.
