Has anyone attempted to marry the two gas
tanks (20 gal. + 40 gal) together?

Since, the LE has arrived, this has been
something I've thought about and how one
might do it without removing the tanks

Any suggestions on an easy way to do it?

If there empty you could weld a bulkhead fitting to each and connect with 1" rubber hose. Probly still going to have to remove them at least to weld them. You dont want to be welding on that new trailer if you dont have to.

How about tying into the lines where they come off the tanks instead of connecting to the tanks themselves. Install two Tee's and put a line between them, you could even put a valve in there so you could open or close the interconnection if you wanted to. Since they are different sizes I might set it up so the 20gal is kind of like a reserve, run out of the big one until empty, then switch over to the reserve. If you want to really get fancy, go get one of those electric changeover valves and use it. Then all you have to do is install a switch and "switch" it over.

My burb has two fuel tanks and it uses an electric pump to empty one into the other. I don't know how practical this idea would be for your rig though. It seems you would definitely have to pull the tanks to do the install.

I just crawled under the WW and find that each
gas tank has it's own optional plugged opening.

They are located at the top of the tank and I
wonder if they have uptake lines to the bottom
of each tanks. Any thoughts on that......

The fill and vent openings are
on the opposite side of both tanks.

if you only had something like that, but bigger and on the bottom of the tank, then you could use a hose with a ball valve in between so you could shut either one off.

Surprise, surprise.... I ran a probe into
the 3/8" threaded opening in the 20 gallon
tank and it is and optional uptake which runs
to the bottom of the tank. Yahoo!

Now, I gotta figger the best way to plumb it.

Howie,

I vote for Toms idea. Are you looking for an additional line to get fuel out of, or just having a way to use both tanks for the generator?

T with a change over valve to both tanks, then hook up to ???

If you were to start up a new TH company with all the mods you've done (an gonna do), you could probably hire Mark and make him the pooper-seal installer! Better yet...buy 'em out and hire us as engineers!

Hi Clark,

I want to keep it simple. I rarely use the
big generator but like the fact that I can
carry 20 gallons of gas as reserve.

I would like to be able to have the fuel station
pump... have access to those 20 gallons when
I need it.

I probably need only 2 shut off valves and
tommorrow, I'll put a schematic together before
I get parts and cut hoses.

I think as you get closer aand closer to Glamis, or probabaly any big enthusiast sand spot, you see more and more gas stations selling race fuel. That is why some people have kept the two tanks, one for regular dino fuel and one for race fuel.

One thing about it 56, with those optional outputs you now have more options for installing lines/valves and drawing schematics than WW. This ought to keep you busy for a day or two. But remember the old saying, KISS! Its the way to go.
