Battery dying overnight

My battery has started dying overnight. Even when I turn off pretty much everything. When the generator is running, it charges. And during the day with the solar panels, everything is fine. I just bought the toy hauler 9 months ago.

But I have run the batteries dead more than I'd like to admit. I'm thinking that maybe I should buy new batteries. And get golf cart batteries this time so they will hold a charge longer. It currently has 2 12 volt batteries that the dealer put in it when I bought it.

I was going to put a multimeter on it today. But with the solar panels charging it, I'm not sure how I could test the amp draw with the sun providing some amps. Maybe I can just subtract the amp gain that it is showing the sun is providing from the amps that my multimeter shows? Or is there an easy way to turn the solar panels off so they don't charge the battery?

Multi meter won't really show you the condition of your batteries. You need to remove the batteries and have them load tested. If you have run them dead several times odds are pretty good they need to be replaced.

How are you turning your batteries "off"? if it is with the negative disconnect switch there is still a decent amount of current draw for your detectors etc..

The only true way is a boat style battery switch that disconnects the positive lead from your batteries to the coach.

I bought one of these 100 amp load tester. It works very good and will tell you if your battery is shot.
