Question Digital Media Players > TV Video Entertainment

I have read about people using a device like WD Live TV and a USB hard drive with Digital movies stored on it to watch on their TV in the RV. I am curious as to what hardware do you use? Is the Minix (MiniX) a good media player? I have a WD Passport 2TB that I store my Digital Movies copies on. I want a easier way to play them on trips, rather than packing a bunch of DVD boxes. TIA

Robert

If you are playing from a hard drive.. Your laptop likely has HDMI jacks on it (if it is new) and VGA if it is not... Many modern TV's accept either.

There are other options too.. I use a chromecast and cast to it with my phone (Which can read the hard drives if I wish or I can transfer to phone from laptop (That way I do not loose function on the laptop while watching recorded content.. Apple has a device as well but I do not use the Inferior Operating System (IOS).

I like your crApple iOS break down. I wont use crApple products either. I however have a iPoop for music in the trailer only because it came with the hook up, and the Zune or any other better device doesn't have the connectivity to car stereos yet.

My laptop is a bit old, works great but no HDMI, only VGA. I plan on getting a Surface Pro 3 or waiting for the 4. But as for now I just back the movies I buy up on the portable hard drive. I have used the laptop for watching them on hotel stays.

I was hoping of cutting down space (and packing weight), with these little digital media devices. The MiniX is really catching my attention, but also has WAY more features then I need in just my trailer.
