FYI, Most of you probably have a newer trailer and are not included in this but I happened to have one that is included. Check the Dometic website dometic for details if you haven't heard about it yet.

I was able to get mine in for the "fix" within two weeks. For all the good it'll do.

My 5'er is a '98 and just had the fix today. After the tech finished, he copied the serial number from the frig door and discovered the PO had it changed in '04 .
So I guess I'm double safe now.

I agree, a bandaid is what I call it! OR, a cover your ??? for Dometic. Either way, when the frig fails you get to replace it, that is if the fix works and your trailer doesn't burn down.

Well the DW was loading the 5'er for our trip that we were leaving tomorrow at 6am. But she just informed me that the freezer is cold but the frig isn't. Guess I'll be parked in the shop's parking lot when they open at 8am. Bummer

The Dometic fridge in my rig is newer than the affected serial numbers in the recall, but apparently the cooling unit didn't know that. We just had it replaced a month or so ago.

Run your new one off of a 4 or 5 hundred watt inverter. Or run it on gas all the time and burn it out. The oem has designed the gas burner oversized for the reason that it is less prone to blowouts. In fact it also "shortcycles" much more often in gas mode. This is what fatigues the metal causing it to crack and rupture.

Yikes.....I've been out of the loop since the last week of May as we were up in the Mammoth area the entire time. We got home on Friday.

Question: What is being replaced when you bring it into the dealer?

Hey 56, just a bunch of tin and a couple of thermocouples, thats the way I see it. All they are doing is making sure it doesn't burn down the trailer when it lets go. I had the Warrior done today, takes about 20 minutes, then, when the cooling lets go, "YOU" get to buy a new frig. Don'cha just love it! I thought it'd be better to burn down the trailer, that way at least you could collect the insurance. (as long as you weren't in it)
