Extended Warranties

Well after looking fro two years we finally pulled the trigger on a slightly used (6 weeks old) 2014 Grand Design Momentum 380th . Now the fun begins, hitch, insurance, etc. because it is used the three year structure warranty is not transferable and we have about 10 months on the bumper to bumper factory warranty.

Need advise on purchasing a extended warranty, all warranties have good and bad but would like to hear if anyone particular company should be avoided. I am looking at RVCare, Wholesale Warranties and Good Sam. The price difference ranges from $1,600 to $3,200 for 5 years. Coverage is basically the same but what a big difference in cost.

Interested in hearing members feedback good or bad....

There has been much written on this site regarding the pros and cons. We have carried a policy on two diesel motor homes for nearly 10 years and so far we are ahead. I will say that in order to save a few bucks, we carried a large deductible, and I found that was not worth the expense. We went back to a $500 plan and we use it more often as you might expect. Consider the most expensive things to break on your purchase and if it is less than 3,200, then you might be ahead to bank that premium and insure yourself. Good luck!

Are their companies you recommend for extended warranties?

Yes the forms have been very helpful and at the same time can cause confusion it seems you read more horror stories then great experiences. Also the Good Sam's club from what I read has a new CEO who is trying to turn them around.

Tough decession..

But we are in a good place and looking forward to our new adventures in the TH

ESW are one of the highest profit margin items that is offered. If a dealer is selling them they will many times get 50% of the sales price as pure profit so that should show you just how much they pay out.

After owning 6 used coaches there has been only 1 that I would have come out ahead AND that is if the company allowed the claim. Most would not, since it was a DP Turbo related claim.

I personally think that if you have done your research and you know you are buying a strong RV with a good reputation and you have the ability to do minor repairs yourself than save the money and use it for any future repairs.
