FIRE!

Had a fire in the switchbox that switches between the generator and shore power while sitting in the driveway! Most damage was smoke related and contained in the storage area where the switchbox was located. Lost some of our camping gear that was sitting next to the box and that's all. I am convinced that if the door to the storage area was open - like it is when we go camping - we would have lost the whole thing.

The dealer is replacing all the panels inside the storage area and, of course, the switch and switchbox. The folks at the factory were very reluctant to replace anything on my 2010 Fuzion!

When I asked what caused the fire, the dealer speculated loose wiring inside the switchbox. That does not breed confidence in my one year old Toy Hauler.

I've had plenty of problems with this camper (I could make a long list), but nothing that would be life threatening like this.

Anyone else have problems with their Fuzions?

Oh...I am new to this forum...so...Howdy!

Charlie, Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your mishap, but I guess it could have been an awful lot worse. I would feel lucky that they are replacing what they are without too much hassle. Good luck. John H...

I have spent some time "poking around" inside the box in my rig.. (Intelletec brand) Nothing there that would lend itself to that kind of a failue.

But different brands,,, are different.

f-stop, I too extend a big
One of the things on my list of annual maintenance items is to check all electrical connections in junction boxes and receptacles. These connections as you know are a source of heat if they are loose or the wires are not fully inserted. Normal road bouncing and vibration can, and will loosen things. Sorry to hear of your problems. It seems more and more manufacturers are paying less attention to quality of workmanship.
The upside to this, no loss of life. Everything else can be replaced.

The connections in the transfer switch do loosen and should be checked. Friends of ours had a near fire because of loose connections. The connections started heating up and melted the insulation on the wires. The xfer switch was totaled and had to be replaced.

Hey all, thanks for the welcomes!

Here's what the storage area looked like...

...and here's the switch housing...

I know that I'll eventually have all the "kinks" worked out on this trailer like I did on my old one, but I never expected anything like this!

Welcome. Scary however my guess is also loose wiring but could have just been a one time thing that wiring was never properly tightened at orginal installation .

Sorry to hear about this, I too have a Fuzion but have not had a problem like that,
I've had a couple of issues that were taking cared of from Keystone without going to the dealer to have them fix it,
one was the decal and the other was the brakes, I had 2 fail on me, they replaced all four of them sent them to the house,
So far I have had very good luck with there customer service, and if you need a couple of contacts to see if you can get the ball rolling I would be happy to give them to you, from my past experiance with them I've had better luck contacting them directly in stead of going though a dealer,
I tried to go the dealer and just got the run around, and when I contacted Keystone direct they had told me they do have problems with some of there dealerships and the dealers customer service, so try to go direct first

On my Cyclone 3950 I had to have a Cummins dealer pull my generator out and fix a problem with it. Upon getting it home I started it up to exercise it and smelled what smelled like hot wiring and found no electricity in the trl. Upon investigation I found a wiring collector box that had loose wires in it that burn't a little popping a breaker. I fixed it myself with the help of my brother (electrician) and is ok now. I also called the Cummins dealer and gave a nice ass chewing for someones sloppy work.
