Hubby want TH, wife not sure?

Hi All -
We have a TT that we love, but my husband & boys (ages almost 7 & 10) are getting "into" quadrunners & dirt bikes.

My husband has mentioned how nice a toyhauler would be.

I've only looked inside a couple and though I must admit they look nice, I have a big reservation about getting one.

Why? I guess I am worried about the smell. Let me go a little further on this. Doesn't the gas & oil smells from the vehicles make the entire trailer smell? My husband was looking at a couple models online last night that had fold down beds in the back half (where the "toys" would be for travel) and I'm a little concerned about toxic smells?

Also, do they make models large enough to sleep 4-6 without having to use fold down beds in the "toy" area in case its pouring rain when you arrive?

This is a new realm for all of us. So many questions.

This is a pretty common concern.
We've had two toyhaulers, both models without a garage, and haven't had any problems with smell. We do take a few precautions:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Primarily shutting off the fuel on the quads when they're in the trailer. <LI>We leave the roof vents open when traveling.<LI>Open everything up upon arrival.[/list]But this isn't usually necessary.

The hardest part is sleeping arrangements while still loaded. At best, we could sleep 5 without unloading, and that depends on what we're carrying. If you have to, just unload in the rain and tarp the toys, then you're good. It only takes a few minutes to unload, especially when motivated.

Don't forget that there are also models available with a separate garage. The limitation there is how many and what types of toys you're carrying. Most garages are 10-12' long and about 90-96" wide.

We are on our second toyhauler after owning
a large motorhome, several trailers and two
Lance campers.

Toyhaulers, are our favorite rig of choice so far.

We normally carry two quads, and gas or fumes have
never been a problem as Diirk outlined. We don't
not have a garage either.

As soon as the quads are moved outside, Lady Di
sets up her sewing machine and sewing table and
claims ownership. She runs the sewing machine
all day off the inverter, so no need to keep the
generator going.

Also, with the TH, we can carry 150 gallons of water which will
keep us in the desert for over a week without trying to find water.
Beside that, we also can carry 60 gallons of fuel in the two gas tanks
located under the TH....... nothing like having your own filling station.

We've had two TH's, and one of the things I've done to try to eliminate the gas fumes from the toys is to use 1/4" drip tubing, connected with Tee's and to each of the toys' vent tubes, and vent outside the coach through an opening to the outside (normally through the side vents). This has helped tremendously, as well as making sure all the toys are cleaned on a regular basis from any oil leaks or the such.

Otherwise, like Howie said, I can't imagine NOT having a 'hauler- they sure are alot easier to get the toys in than the back of a pickup truck bed!!
