hit on an item thats cant be overstressed,
even if you use it 24/7. every week or two depending on temps inside the coach you need to pull out all the ice basket, drain ALL the water, wipe it out good to remove any possible slick stuff or puppy hair( our rotty sheds like three buffalos) , wipe it good till its squeaky clean and then refill. You wil find that in a short time the slick stuff in water will build up on the lower edges and could pose a bacteria threat in your body later. last summer with the temps around90 and the humiday near 90% and the coach nice and cool it didnt take long for the edges to get slimish
and if you shut her off make sure its all dried out.
we built a little table from some MDF and four legs, for it to sit on about 4 -6" off the floor, makes its easy to drain and clean.

OK...it's a done deal...ordered tonight! $214 Total....check out my earlier thread on buying thru their eBay "Buy It Now" listing.

Hey Senoir Tomas: We'll have to [Klink] when I get it!

Next is getting Moski talked into the macerator pump and builtin vacuum cleaner....this'll be just a tad harder to do... Wish me luck!

Yeah yeah yeah Tommy...darn laptop got a bug and it's taken quite a while to get rid of it.

Well...WE GOT THE UNIT! And it does make a considerable amount of ice, given the size of it. But I do admit- it sure is noisy- at first, I thought the compressor unit was just vibrating on something, so I took off the back cover and tried to stabilize it. But no go...it's the compressor unit itself. Sounds like a PW50 (actually, more like a 20 )- the fan isn't anywhere as noisy as the compressor.

I ran it for a while the day we got it, and I'm amzed at how much ic a gallon of water will make. It'll come in real handy for maintaining ice for the icechests. Now to build a little framed dolly for it so I don't have to muscle it around by myself (darn thing weighs 52 lbs!!).

Here's to ya Tommy boy!! [KLINK!]

Well, its nice to see you got rid of that bug and are on the mend.

It does make some noise but look at it this way, every time you hear that bang, you know you have another set of ice cubes, kinda like the sounds of "shall I mix another". I liken it to music to my ears. Just park it at the rear of the trailer and turn up the tunes.

I thought I'd check in once more before I leave tomorrow and see if you were back on, glad you made it! (now I don't have to answer the PM)

Hummmm.....I can take the ice cube bang, but the constant hum-dinger sound will eventually get to me...

How well does your unit work outside in the higher temps and humidity (the ice maker, TOM! )? On the larger setting, I'm getting a batch of ice cubes (all 12 of them) about every 9 minutes...

Wow...wait 'til BB gets ahold of THAT one...

Well, to me its a no brainer, I can put up with the noise, not a problem, music to my ears. If you put it outside it will take a little longer but not that much. Personally, I love to hear the sound. (alright, another round of ice) When I put mine at the rear of the hauler I barely hear it at all so think about that.

PS...don't you love those cubes!

Well....yeah!! But I'm thinkin the geography is gonna get into play around these parts...we've got DUST....something that I believe is quite different to your HUMIDITY, and I'm not quite sure I wanna keep it outside where the ice can get brown...I'm thinking of putting it in the basement compartment to keep that kinda contamination out of my drink....whatdayasay there Tomster?

I still say, keep it inside the trailer, out of the dust and all that, besides, when you need a drink or need to empty the ice into something else, you'll have it where it needs to be.

OK Tom...so far I've decided it needs to be my the door. I'd love to put it on a 50 foot extension cord like I usedta do with my little generator while tent camping, but I realize I've got to give it a break ...

Here's some pics:

I fired it up a bit (for about 4 hours) and I actually was amazed at how quickly it does make ice- I don't think that claim about 35 pounds/day is ludicrous. I figure I hoard some of the garage icemaker's ce to fill the ice chests, then use this to maintain ice as long as we're out, and we're good to go- no more buying ice!

Oh...and I am defintely set on the larger ice cube setting...seems worth it to me.

Sean, this is where you put it! This way you don't have to get up when you are ready for another.

Boy:

You'd have to turn the TV up so you could hear it if the IceMaker was THAT close.

It's a good thing I let it go another day before chucking it- evidently it doesn't like warm water, and certainly not all of that josling around on the dirt roads...Friday night it didn't make anything, but Saturday night (I guess you've got to let the juice settle) it did fine- actually provided all the ice we needed for a few drinks! I guess I'll keep it...
