Why would you want to take up half the room in the freezer.

I'll stay with my plastic trays

You don't have to use the coach freezer to freeze the ice or house the ice maker, much the same way a stand-alone ice machine works in a home...they have their own compressor and cooling mechanism and are self-contained.

there are a few RV mfg's who offer an ice maker as an option. I suppose all you would need is the space, a power source, a water source and a water drain, all of which aren't too terribly difficult to run. The available space is the trick...

If you can find the space and find a maker that fits, the hard parts are done.

check this link out...you don't even need a drain with this.

One thing to keep in mind with an Ice Maker, is it requires a constant source of AC power to run. I used to work in the RV industry and was involved with the big diesel pusher motor coaches, many of which had ice makers, AND an inverter system to provide AC power to run them. They were power hogs, so you had to run the generator a few hours a day to keep the batteries fully charged.
The U Line brand is the most popular.

My hubby and I saw an icemaker on a TH a few years back..."How cool," my hubby says, "...turns a gallon of gas into a pound of ice!"

I have always enjoyed my hubby's sense of humor!

My wife and I have been doing some shopping for a new toy hauler and saw several with ice makers. If you are on full hook ups, why not?

WoW,
For 350 bucks, I will stick with my 5 day coolers. They may not work for 5 days but they do work for a couple. That is a lot of Mud Slides going through the blender.

You know...I was cruisin' through some threads and stumbled across this one- I remember laughing my buttt off back then over Sooze's comment: "My hubby and I saw an icemaker on a TH a few years back..."How cool," my hubby says, "...turns a gallon of gas into a pound of ice!"

Since our newest Mod added one to his SLC a while ago, and the hot weather is coming upon here shortly, thought I'd get this one back up to the top...

Any one else got one or planning on adding one? I think it's a great idea!
