Obviously the cold weather hasn't made it to the Houston area yet. I had to fire up both the upstairs and downstairs central A/C units this morning as it was 78 degF and rising upstairs. Ahhhh...winter on the Texas Gulf Coast - the furnaces will be running Sunday night, says the weatherman.

Rusty, you got that furnace turned on yet?

Things are starting to wind down here, at least for the moisture part. Now the real cold sets in. We ended up with about 4 inches of sleet and ice but most of the freezing rain hit about 50 miles east and south, they've got a mess on their hands over there and it'll get worse later as the wind is suppose to get up around 20mph. That'll take down more in the way of trees and power lines thats covered with all that ice. Is it time for spring yet?

Wow Tom, 50 miles east of you puts it pretty close to Chouteau, where we use to live. Glad we are not there now.

We ran the A/C on Friday and had the heat set to run today, but so far it has not run. It is currently 58 dF here and drizzling. If we get anything, it is predicted to hit here late Monday and colder on Tuesday night...maybe 30 dF (35 dF Tuesday).

Just stay warm....hope the "spirits" hold out.

Spoke to some folks in Locus Grove and Pryor. They said Chouteau was really bad. No power, trees down every where and no end in site as far as they are concerned. Said Chouteau area was hit with three waves of ice. Hwy 69 between Pryor and Wagoner was closed.

Our realtor is just south of Locus Grove and said they were staying warm and cooking on the fire place insert.

Stay in and stay warm.

We were really lucky Ken, just a few degrees and we'd have been in the thick of it, just a little colder here, just enough to produce sleet instead of freezing rain.

Tom, we were living north of Houston in 1997, when we had a an ice storm. Sleet and freezing rain. We wound up with a yard about 3 feet deep in tree limbs, and the neighbors pine tree on our roof (minor damage).

With all of the trees breaking, it sounded like a war from the pops and cracks.

It may be hot and humid here in the summer, but I don't have to shovel humidity out of my drive.

Well Tom, we bit the bullet last weekend in that it stayed just above freezing and we got very little ice.
Today on the otherhand it is snowing like crazy and 1 1/2 hours after I got to work and email came out saying there will be a 2 hour delay in opening the office. A half hour later an email came out saying the offices are closed and we should go home.
Just love it, risk life and limb getting here this morning because there was no message on our weather hotline and now we can leave and get into the mix of 100,000 other idiots slipping and sliding all over the highways.

Well, we are into our next snowstorm. Calling for 4-8 inches tonight through Sunday. Spent over an hour in line at the store tonight getting supplies, everybody else was doing the same. Global warming????????? Not here! Worst winter in a while around here.

Well, the snowstorm didn't materialize, at least not yet. So far I only have some freezing rain to deal with, about a half inch. So...if it doesn't get any worse, we are in good shape.

I put something in another topic about a sinner and warmer temps, guess I'd better be careful what I wish for!
