Sean,

You're right on that. There is also lots of
flat land trails to ride. We left one of the
mountain bike campgrounds and headed up toward
the La Salle mountains. Maybe it's just the
bicycle folks don't like our dust

You know, since I've never been to "Mecca" and 56 has, maybe we can get him to help us find a place to camp. I have no problem boondocking!
What say you, Howie?

I was looking at the calender, temperature by month, and when they hold the Easter Safari and....looks like a good date might be the last week in April or the first week in May. Either that or you have to back up to first week of April to avoid the Safari and they still show some snowfall and freezing temps in March as a possibility.

Tom,

Your pick on the months to be in Moab are right
on. We were there last year the 2nd week in May
and it was just starting to get too hot.

Our first camp was in the overflow area of Sand
Flat campground not far out of town. I don't think the big toyhaulers will be able to get in.

Our second camp was on BLM land at a campground
called "Big Mesa". There are designated spaces
there and it's quite open, however, it is first
come first serve.

Since we have lots of time, perhaps a local Moab
off roader or someone who really knows the area
can chime in with some suggestions for a good
group gathering site.

We also, could call the Moab BLM office and ask
them for some help.

First Picture is of Sand Flat Camp. Second and Third
photo are taken at Big Mesa Camp

It seems maybe late April is a good idea?

Griz,
Tom's idea is an incredible one, no doubt
I'm sure we have the workings of a multi state Rally going here because of his idea,
but, i sure would also like to hear sometime about your work and sacrifices in Iraq.
You got some guys here who appreciate and respect your efforts. If you want to, talk with us about your work

and Tom, again, this is a one in a hundred idea. We're seeing this one thru.
Boondocking or RV park, its no never mind to me, we are coming.

great pictures too '56. Jese, i am ready to go pack the trailer NOW looking at them

Mike

Well, I'm thinking of going to a campground where we have hookups. If that doesn't float your boat, let me know... Boy, I know one thing, this new keyboard is killing me, Gotta change this thing! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Tom:

Hookups would be nice, but I think if we time this right (and I saw you were reading tea leaves by looking at historical temp data...what a way to get Murphy involved!), we won't need them, and judging by 56's pics, it'd be better if we could get out of the mainstream parks (although the idea of having some trees around sounds good!).

Now take that keyboard and chuck 'er over the fence (hopefully the neighbors won't think some alien just dropped his spaceship control panel, ey?!)

yea Sean,
one one hand we are all of us here set up for boondocking,
and yet parking at a nice established camp with hookups is not out of the question either,
its up to what is available ??

i'm excited either way

Well I don't want to steal the excitement of the thread so I'll be brief. Marine Corps 23 years I'm the Avionics' Chief for CH-46 Helicopter Squadron HMM-268 We have been there twice already. We mainly do Casevac missions. Saved allot of brothers over there and of course hauled way to many angel's. I've enjoyed the Corps. It's been a good career.
