Sean, I know you asked about this awhile back and all I have to say is I would love to go here. From what I know you would have to go here in the March/April/May or the Sept/Oct/Nov time frames to be able to drycamp, otherwise you would have to have hookups. I don't have a clue as to whether you can park at any specific place and go out with a atv or not. My deal is I have a Jeep so I don't worry about that kind of problem. I park where ever and I drive to where I need to go. If you all want to plan a trip I'm in. Just let me know.

Boy Tom...you know, that was back when I thought I had a fighting chance to get the Jeep in the SLC, and I might still have that chance, albeit prolly not legally. I want to go there like nobody's business...let's toss it out and see what kinda crowd is interested. Sure would like for someone to also pipe up who knows the best places for us to go for large groups!

Oh...BTW...here's the Moab 2006 thread you started...I didn't realize that puppy got to 14 pages!!!

Hey Quadhauler

Do you have any experience in the Moab area or have any ideas as to a good place to camp with a bunch of rigs where most people could ride out from camp with their quads or not street legal vehicles? That always seems to be the big problem, I'm kind of letting WWFan go the lead on this one but we are all interested in what your comments are. Thanks!

No I have never been there myself, I've just seen it on some ATV TV episodes and read up about it on the internet. Not sure about boondocking out there as most of what I have seen is RV camp area's and trucking the ATV's to the trailheads. Just looks like an amazing place to me. I'm sure we can google our way to all the info we need though!

Greetings:

There are many place you can dry camp and ride ATV from camp. Every Spring a group gets together and camps about 10 miles south of town. I can post a map of where but there are 100's of spots. We usually have a group of 6-10 rigs and no problems.

If you want detailed info including pics let me know and I'll post a forum of ATV riders with the thread. Moab is THE place - nothing like it.

A good place to stay north of town with hookups or in a small cabin is:http://www.moab-utah.com/archview/archview.html

If I did this right the link will take you to some phots.

Welcome to our little piece of the world here. Your picts look great and we would love to get some detail on where some camping spots are. A link would work or whatever. Thanks!

Hi Tom,

We did Moab and it was wonderful, but there are just too many other great places in California that are "fuel friendy" for us.

We thought about Moab again, but it's kinda too far a drive until the diesel price comes down.

Howie! Oh ye of little faith...you have plenty of time to save boxtops and S&H Stamps until then! You're the reason WHY diesel's so expensive for the rest of us! BTW...I also seem to remember that YOU were the guy who came up with all the where-with-all info and conversed with the rangers there to find a spot- now all we need to do is follow up on what you had already found out.

Keith: thanks for the great pics! It certainly seems to be a beautiful spot to be able to get more than our local group together- that's why we were thinking of it in the first place.

Let's all work on the specifics for a little bit and see what we can find, OK?

Here are some threads from ATV forum. We usually go around the car show, which is one of the best I've seen(lots of Vettes). The Moab site will give dates and details. If you folks put together a trip let me know as I'm always looking for an excuse. In a seperate post I'll put up some maps with GPS waypoints. Also the best book money can buy on Moab is Moab Backcountry by Wells. Regards-Keith

Dang....We would love to go, but those months would probably not be good for us. Our eldest son is a sophomore now and his curriculum here at the Lewis Home School is a bear. I don't think he could miss the days and still complete the year in time.

How hot is it there in June?

I believe the answer is "hot and getting hotter.

I have to say that with the national convention in Branson next year, my annual trek to NM two weeks after that, unless I get "retired" for one reason or another I doubt I could swing all that in one season. Course, if I was retired, I probably couldn't afford it either.
