I'll have my walk through on a 2006 2600FS on Saturday and was wondering the best way to put a load on the Parallax converter? Just want to make sure this unit doesn't have the same 12V woes that have plagued other Rage'n owners.

azsrtoke,

I definatly want to test the electrical. Here is how.

while on battery power, Turn on a few interior lights, then turn on the stereo. With both on, lower the electric bed. All should work okay. Next, keep an eye on the face of the salesman or whoever is doing the PDI with you and trry to raise the electric bed. It probably will not move. Turn off the lights and stereo and it will probably still not raise up. Just to prove there is a 12 v problem, turn on the genny and watch the bed go up w/ lights and stereo on. Have them fix this before you accept the rig otherwise you will spend the time and $400 I did on replacing the Paralax converter and upgrading the 12v cable from the battery to the converter. See that here: My 12v Upgrade

Ragen makes a fine rig, their 12v guys just don't know what the heck they are doing.

Thanks 2Blue!!
That's exactly what I'll do on Saturday. I won't expect them to replace it with a PD converter, but they should be aware if there is a problem. Mentioned it to the salesman and he said he had not heard of any problems with the 12V.

I'll let you know how it goes

they can eliminate the problem by running a 6 or 4 guage power wire from battery to converter. I would not allow them to upgrade the converter. Only YOU will do a careful and safe conversion, not them.

Have fun w/ them. make em squirm!

2Blu:
You hit the nail on the head, if they say they've never heard of the problem they're full of it. One run of 4 or 6 gage will do the trick, I'll bet azstroke doesn't take that rig home without the fix!
