Clark and all (especially disc brake owners)
.. and Clark you have discs on that Alfa of yours i think (??)...
.. and i am not sure how much of this is opinion and questions,... but:

here's a thread about TowCommand and disc brakes from TDS:

Excert from thread:

[Mark_Oomkes]: ...That reminds, my dealer told me that the Tow Command does not work with the newer disc brakes on trailers. Any truth to that? Could that have been the problem?

[haul_n_horses]: ...Well the only disc brake systems that are on the market are hydraulic so if the Tow Command does not work with hydraulic systems I would say that is true. ........One is the ABS system. Jack thinks that the tow vehicle ABS dynamic reproportioning system is causing the bucking. If you pull the fuses to the ABS system, the bucking virtually disappears.

[FatDog]: ... How should the signal for braking transferred via TowCommand from the truck to the trailer be any different for disc or drum brakes? If the trailer brakes are electronically actuated either way, where is the breakdown in communication occurring? How could the TowCommand's ABS introduce something that trailer disc brakes would not see?

Thanks for the info Mike, but I have regular electronic brakes just like yours on my Alfa. I was looking into disc's though. I'll have to do more research on the subject.

I just installed the upfitter switches into the new Tow Boss. This was an option that wasn't included in the truck and good old Sean found a web site that sold the complete factory setup for me. I ordered it and received it in less than one week. They came just as I was leaving last week on my Nebraska trip. I did the install yesterday, it took a little over one hour start to finish. I hooked up my high idle to switch #4, I'll use the others for Fog and reverse lights and something.

Here are pictures:

Cubby hole next to brake unit is where the switches will go.

Brake unit out, removed cubby hole.

Switches installed, looks factory...

Clarkie Baby!

Looks just like factory work! (Well...that is all factory stuff!).

I love my SEIC idle...boy, it sure turns heads when you're walking away from the truck and it goes into high idle- had one guy tell me my truck was running away!

Hey...you should have some apps for the other switches by what I saw of our accesories!

Sean

Seannie,

I'm going to use two of the switches for fog and reverse lights and I'm thinking of using the last switch for my inverter for running the laptop and electrical things...

I'm at work today, catching up on things missed the past two weeks.

If you find anyother gotta have items for the truck, pass them on. OBTW, do you have a engine heater cord on your KR? I used my one on old red alot in the winter, but new blue doesn't have the cord. I need to find out how much a cord costs and where to install it.

You know Clark:

Last I reviewed our geography, we didn't NEED engine heaters! Man!...you just gotta outfit that rig with everything, dontcha?!

Do a search on TDS with +heater+cord and you'll find hundereds of posts there.

Ohh...just got my mirror spots installed..these things are great!!

More to come....

Sean, for the SEIC idle, do you connect the orange wire or the purple?
I see there are 2 different replies on TDS.
I want to hook mine up this weekend.
Thanks,
linc
