Wow...since Brian got a new xBox360 for Christmas and he was complaining about lag time on his games (can you believe that? Kids these days.... ), I decided to give Verizon a call and see what it would take to get the DSL changed from the measley 768kbps to the new 3.0. Dang- if they didn't upgrade me for FREE!

Well, I wasn't gonna let any 'ol free stuff get in the way of me spending money, so I went down to BestBuy and got a new 802.11n system to replace my old Microsoft .b system, as well as the new xBox360 Network Adapter. We're cooking with GAS now!

FWIW, I was concerned about the order in which to install the system considering the fact that I had an existing one, so I called Linksys' Tech Support, and within seconds got a Tech guy- he worked with me for over an hour to do it right (even the xBox adapter setup). I am thoroughly impressed with their Tech Support, although what seemed to be an easy task turned out to be quite the monster. I'm not a network guy (but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express recently ), and there's soooooo much to know about these things, but the bottom line it's working like greased lightning now.

If you're on an old Verizon DSL account, you'll probably find that they'll upgrade you like they did us. Of course, it all depends right now if you're close enough to a CO that will support the higher bandwidth.

Nothing like a post/self-given Christmas present!

Well Bob, some of us are lucky to have something better than "smoke signals" to signal with.

On edit, Hummm, I wonder what baud rate smoke signals are?
