Looks good now.

I think you're right that one of the bulbs would work on the reedswitch but when the second got added it did draw too much current.

Thanks Joe...now I can hardly wait to get home to try it!!

You know...somehow I thought internally in the relay it would bridge the gap between 85 & 30...when you don't know "how" the thing works, it sure is hard to figure out how to wire it.

Did anyone happen to come across a good LED bulb supplier? I've got a few I've seen online, but can't seem to find a replacement for a 1003 bulb (which is what WW uses...)

This diagram brings back memories. I used these relays to either flash the headlamps by pushing the doorarm switch forward, or pulling the switch back to flash the running lights. They call it a "THANKYOU" when someone passes you so they know they are past you, or you have passed them. This was on our MH 4 yrs ago. If I can find my schematic I'll post it.

This could work but it would also create a parasitic draw as the relay would be energized to turn the light off. 87A is active while 87 is inactive when the relay is at rest while 87A is inactive and 87 is active when the relay is energized.

Neil,
You're right about 87 being the inactive while at rest. The wire feeding the light should be on 87 instead of 87a.

The feed to the light is correct though so the relay will be at rest and no parasitic draw when the compartment door is closed. The magnet on the reed switch will hold the NC contacts of the switch open when the door is closed. When the compartment door opens, the NC contacts of the reed switch close and energise the relay.

With it set up the way it was, the light would have gone on when the compartment door closed, and off when it opened.

Would have been interesting watching Sean checking the light though

Like seeing if the refrigerator light really goes off when the door closes

hehehehehe!!! That IS funny....thanks Joe! But you know...I already knew that from my prior hookup...I figured the 87 and 87a diffs earlier.

You know Sean, I can just see it now. When you open the storage door the flag you have on the pole at the end of the trailer will go right up to the top and a light will come on so its illuminated at night. God, what a sight! And, all that just for trying to wire a light in the storage area.
