So its saturday even ing at he campground and a new couple has been here all week but gone at danw and returning in the wee hours of the night, visiting sick relatives, so I finally get to talk to this guy who has been here a week already
he has a nice looking keystone quad slide(I believe he said 16gvwr) and a nice 03 7.3 f350 (one of the last ones with a 7.3) i struck a talk about his spare tire and proceeded to tell me he couldnt find a replacement in town, and we were shooting the cow patties about trucks and pulling and weights, he told me his trailer is at last wt. is just a bit over 16800 and total combined was 24800 ish. I gave him one of them odd looks and before i could say a word he said yep we are around 4800 over the trucks gcvwr, but i got a cdl so its OK, truck pulls fine a bit slow on the start and takes longer to stop so i dont pull over 65 mph, i said a bit over weight man your way over, I can understand a couple hundred pounds but not almost 5k,
he says the truck squats flat down on the overloads and rides a bit harsh all hooked up, but its been all over the west coast and they are eaded home.
then he looks ove ra the tow boss and asked what gears i am running i say a 4.30 and we get to talking bout my set up and he says shoot you ought to be able to pull a 20k rv......
i just didnt have it in me to argue the facts.

CDL huh

Its amazing how much bad information floats around. I frequent several forums from Jeeps to ATV and someone always asks about towing weights and loading. It amazes me how many people reply with. I towed a 10k lb trailer with my Subaru Outback with no problems.....

When it comes to towing I am alway conservative on tow ratings and GVW.

I am not even in the same class my TT is only 7300lbs GVW I pull it with a 3/4 ton Dodge...

Hope he stays on the west coast with that setup...lol
