Del, that really stinks. Hope you get up and running soon.

If you get a chance, come on and visit the Okie camper group at Salt Creek North on Lake Keystone this weekend.

Hey Team,
Thanks for all the kind words and pitch-in's for help.
We are at the Best Western RV park just off of I40. Terry Moore of Moore Towing (AAA) has been a true help. He towed the 5er over here this morning (with a f150.. yikes)but has ensured that we were taken care of.
I just rode my Hog over to Dodge to see how things were going and the tranny is being rebuilt. The main shaft had sheared. Boy I have never pulled that one off before. The Mech stated that this is the weakest part of the truck and they normaly have them in stock because of this. The parts should be in tomorrow morning and we should be on the road by late afternoon. All for 100 bucks. Thank goodness for the warranty.
Any who, thanks for the invite to Salt Creek but we are running behind by mmmmmm, 2 days now. Gota make a bee line for home.
Will keep ya'll updated if anything changes.

All and all, it sounds to me like its working out well considering what could have been.
Please post a pic of your SLC3705 being towed into town by a F150 !!!!!!!

And at the next (first ) outing of the Western States Toyhaulers, I want to hear just how awesome it is to be able to back the Hog outa your trailer to jet around town when you have to. Good job !

later,
Mike

Hey Mike...... I was so speechless that I clear forgot to break out the camera for the short hop from where they left us to the campground. All I can tell you is his springs were "squished" and the back tires were, well... "squished" too. The guy giggled the entire time (which did not inspire much confidence, let me tell you). Suffice to say, we were all laughing, though perhaps this was out of fear. I rode my hog behind (well behind) and Del rode ahead. It was just 3 miles.... but perhaps the longest 3 miles I've driven before.

Small campground, but nice. The ladies room, showers and laundry are clean and nice. The people friendly. The tow company have been terrific.

More later I'm sure.

A's Lady

That was a Kodak moment passed by. The SLC being brought in with a 'police' style escort - Hogs fore and aft.

(thanks for the review of the ladies room and laundry, you guys have a great rest of the trip.!! We already have a good story out of it. )

Like to see you guys at a camp later this summer..

M

Boy, hate to hear of the bad luck. Since you'll be back on the road by Thursday guess I'll miss you. Been in Dallas all week and will head home tomorrow, could have driven by El Reno on the way. Hope they got the tranny fixed right. One thing about it, we couldn't have told you anything to do to cover that before the trip except my remark about the "plastic". Hope the rest of your trip goes better.

Sorry about your tranny problems Aviator. Thats why I had my tranny built by DTT in Abottsford Canada. Bill K knows how to set these trannys up to handle the torque of these Cummins while pulling a heavy load. I now have a billet input shaft along with a better converter & valve body.Bill K's web site
Good luck

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.
Yes Fatdog, it was indeed a Kodak moment... I'm truely sorry it wasn't captured.

Looks like we'll get the Dodge back late today at the earliest. Will know more for sure in a short while - Aviator has just left to check on things. So if you're coming through El Reno any time today Vette Racer - stop by and see if we're still here... there's a good chance if we don't get the truck 'til late, that we will stay another night.

Just got some more bad news - we just noticed a "nice ding" on the front of the rv. Must have been done when being towed by the F150. It's a gash about 6" across. I'll have Aviator post photos. Anyone know how the heck to fix such a thing? I'm going to post the same Q in a general forum too.

More later-
Aviator's Lady

Made it to Amarillo Tx, Thunderstorm, high winds and very cold. This is the trip from Helllo.
We have stopped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park, called ahead to ensure a spot as all of the Snow Birds are heading east and stop at about 4pm everyday. They greeted us, had a perfect spot for us. When we asked about propane, they said just go get set up and we will be out. The guy came out and took the tank, filled it and returned it. Even helped my son hook it back up.
The fee was 26bucks for full hook-ups and great cable TV hook up. They have a heated in door pool, sauna, and jacuzzi. Right off of I-40.
Will keep everyone up to date.

Hey, where are you going? Kansas is the other direction! HA!

Its a real shame you ran into all these problems and get this, the weather is changing. Its suppose to be 70 and sunny tomorrow, mid 70's Sat and into the upper 70's Sunday. Maybe you ought to turn that puppy around and take an extra week.

Well, enjoy whats left of your excursion into the midwest anyway.

yea VetteRacer, besides his 'cards' didn't you tell them to bring maps????
..... well look at me being a smart guy and they're the ones out seeing the country and checking out some new RV Parks, giving some good RV Park reviews, having a bit of fun, and I'm sitting at home after working another 12 hours.
Am I ready to pack my 5r and drive out and join all you guys ? It wouldn't take a whole lot of prodding right about now
I40 starts just about 60 miles from here .....

Howie
I think I'm also still pegged for April 23.

I ordered mine without batteries so I have a little shopping to do. I'll get a couple deep 6's. I also am going to plumb it for air so I'll measure an underbody at my dealer this weekend and buy some pipe and fittings. I have three boxes of 'stuff' already in my garage waiting. The '06 models already have some very nice accent lighting on the inside (have you seen that yet??) above the casework, but I bought some more and have that ready to put in. I made my own 'water mister' using a water pump, 50' of water line, and some plant misting connections and I use that in a small wood container I made and it emulates a jucuzzi/sauna (and yes that is a awesome feature while out at sticky heat land to have a mobile sauna )
And yessssss, do you think I'm counting the days by chewing my fingernails?????????

I'll ask tomorrow what my revised delivery date is.
I sure would like to see everyone around here sometime early this summer. Time to get together and get the summer going. Any of you guys out there want to get together and have a spot in mind, give me a holler. I have some iRV2 ToyHauler banners and I'm going to look forward to having a little fun,..

Mike
