As I wanted to carry the Smart Car, on the truck rather then having it take up half the garage in the toy hauler, I replaced the Freightliner with this Peterbilt. We are now half way through our summer trip, over 3,000 miles covered so far and tomorrow will start to wander back home to the Nor-Wet, via the southwest.
I can already hear all the wise remarks about , "Hey buddy think you have enough truck." When you haul a car, and tow a 22,000 pound trailer up and down mountains all over the western half of the country, to SAFELY tow and STOP that load you need a real truck. I wore out one ton pickups until I got smart and built what I needed.

There's a fellow here at the park in South Fork, CO with a black Pete hauling a Jeep on the bed lengthwise in front of his 5th wheel. I missed getting a photo before he unloaded it.

"Go big or go home" fits your setup! You have one beautiful rig and the safety you have in pulling, stopping, and traveling long distances is commendable. ENJOY!
I met a fellow who for a moment I thought was Mr Cob
But no . The fellow I met had a very similar rig . He said it was done in canada
A used Volvo from Wal Mart . Removed one rear axle , extended the frame to carry the smart car and not have the 5th hit while making turns .
That is the way to GO !
Pete 379? Is the engine green or yellow? Million mile tractor you have I envy your set up! Post more pictures
Howdy Gaspumpcity,
I am "assuming" your talking about my truck. If so it has a 6NZ C-15 550 HP-1,850TQ Caterpillar engine coupled to an 18 speed Auto-Shift Road Ranger transmission, 3.55 axles.
Click this link to be taken to a photo gallery that details the build of the truck from when I first bought to where it is now, each photo has commentary that describes what is being done at that point.
The truck now has 1.6 MILLION miles on it and is running strong, it had a Platinum Rebuild 600,000 miles ago so there is more then enough life in it to outlast my needs. If you have any specific questions ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Genuine fabricating I must say! My favorite 550 c15 great puller the best simple cat motor ever produced. I didn’t care for the twin turbo Bts to many turbo failure and injector tip failure Keep an eye on your air to air cooler (prone to crack) also check fuel tanks often for antifreeze dilution from injector cup seals. Thanks for posting pictures!
Here's my rig, TV is '15 Sierra 3500 DCDA DRW TH is '14 Fuzion 375 with 19k# Reese Goosebox and Morryde SR4k equalizer and "G" rated GY 16" tires. Toys are '14 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Pikes Peak and '04 KTM plated EXC 525 which might be getting upgraded to Can Am Maverick trail
Desert Fox 24AS. We live in this thing full time. Its a pretty sweet camper.
Sierra 3500, and a pick of my truck bed - the reason I bumper pull instead of 5th wheel.
slipp - Very nice set up. I especially like the storage unit / bicycle rack in the truck bed. Looks like it slides out with more storage space underneath? Did you make it yourself or did you purchase it? Thanks
Here is a snapshot of my rig. Dodge 3500 2013 (No problems)...hauls great and the Toy Hauler accommodates everyone from cross-country trips to beach front fishing getaways for the boys. Just love it!
