Sewer connection

Every time I go to hook up my sewer hose, when I pull the cap off the connection from my fiver I get about 2 cups worth of liquid out of it. Is this normal and is there anything I can do to stop this?

I was getting the same thing. Was told to leave hose on for a while so can drain. Grey tank usually frther away and takes longer for water to drip. Helped mine

I get the same thing don't know how its getting from black tank to drain pipe. I have been told that the shut off is not completely closing and letting some liquid go into drain pipe. If you find out anything different please let me know. cmcguire2@att.net

Could be one of the waste tank drain valves is slightly leaking.......good flushing can clean 'grove' of debris

But if just a small amount then most likely just residue from drain line.
After you shut drain valves.....don't disconnect hose and cap end right away
Let it continue to drain (dribbles) for 10 minutes or so.

I usually drain black tank..then drain grey tanks then go about disconnecting water hoses, electrical cord, putting items away etc and then come back to disconnect sewer hose and cap end of drain line.

Unless I am at dump station ..then it is dump and GO!
Then prior to removing end cap I have a bucket under it and slowly remove 'hose connection cap' on end cap just in case their IS liquids in line

There is a gate valve that will twist on , like the hose does.......so you'd have your factory one, then a clear elbow, then the added gate valve with cap

That was a good idea with the bucket. I thought I'd seen and adapter that attached to the end of the sewer pipe that had a slide handle on it that would hold the water until you hooked you hose to it than you could release the water into the hose when connected.

just leave the cap off

you don't 'need' it on anyway, it just causes problems when you remove the cap.

2 cups seems very excessive, beyond that of a drip. I agree with the others, a must have is a second gate valve. Twists right on and your cap goes on the new gate valve. Seal it on with screw/hose type clamps, they sell with the clamps at most camping supply stores.

If one of your gate valves is leaking, I would think the amount of liquid behind the cap would increase with time.

Your line may be a little flat somewhere. Two cups is a bit much though.

Hook your line to the site connection, run your hose to your RV connection and hold your sewer hose in a way to catch what may come out. I do this all the time after I had a small amount surprise me one time.
