We are thinking of getting a larger toy hauler for our winter months. We currently have a KZ 35px2 but want to go larger. The next step up is usually a tri axle. Have any of you done this? What is the main differences ,ride, sway, etc? Our limiting factor will be our truck which is an F350 SC PSD LWB SRW 4x4. Does anyone have the Titanium toy hauler and if so how do you like it?

I just switched from a 2 axle patio hauler, to a 3 axle.

I really can't tell any difference. The tires that are on the 3 axle are old, and the shoulders on both middle tires is pretty warn. The dealer said that tire gets scuffed sideways more.

I've had other dealers tell me that some brands go 3 axle because 3 5200 lb axles are cheaper than 2 8000 pound axles, and others say it is better to have 3 sets of brakes.

Anyway, I think both are fine, as long as they are within their load rating.

When I ran the rig over a cat scale, totally empty with empty tanks I got 6,440 on the rear axle, so I would imagine rear axle weight would be the limiting factor with a single rear wheel.

I can't speak for changing from one to the other but I do have two different trailers, one a two axle and the other a three axle. The 3 axle pulls much better and rides smoother and the tire wear is not an issue. Others seem to see different issues with the triple axle, maybe they pull around town more or something but most of my towing is on the open road and as long as you keep the tires at the same pressure they wear the same. Yes, they look terrible when turning, makes you think they are coming off the wheel but its no big deal. I'll take a triple axle any day of the week over a dual axle. Just cost a bit more for tires and brakes.
