that link that '56 posted has a caption on one of the photos that refers to them as 'racing rigs' so i presume they were toyhaulers heavy with the usual: tools, supplies, and snowmobiles. Sounds fun, until that cold wet bath part. Must have been a warmer winter or something.
I wonder if they use a similar setup that Tom has, a winch pulling the snowmobiles up into the trailer maybe on top of sleds
