Is there any toy haulers out there that r light enough to be pulled by my2010 jeep rubicon unlimited? I want to put my side x side in there as well as all my gear. 0r should I try and convert my old 1970 single axle travel trailer into a toy hauler? Still trying go find the dry wheight on that...3700 lbs is the gvwr on that trailer.

3700 lbs isn't that bad for a JK to tow. It won't win races.
If you have a auto trans I'd get the largest trans cooler I can fit in the grill.
I've towed 2500 a few times with my TJ. It did ok.

Ya what I'm thinking of doing is converting an old 70's 17' travel trailer into a toyhauler.???? I'm trying to find out the dry weight of this unit but no luck so far. Feels fairly light and it has trailer brakes. I would get rid of a few things inside too so that would offset some of the weight.

Seems like there isn't much out there for light toy haulers to pull my SxS...anyone have any ideas??

I have heard of guys converting thier enclosed trailers with fold down bunks and other things while using them for race cars. Many of them tell me a hallmark enclosed trailer is built much better than any RV.

Featherlite trailers are all aluminium so should be lite and I seen some videos on you tube that shows they have a front kitchen option that looks pretty nice

Good luck. I have a Ranger with the 4.0 V6 and researched this fairly extensively last year. My biggest problem was that I needed to take two ATVs. The closest I came to making it a reality was one of the "pop-up toyhaulers". Several companies make them that have a GVWR around 3500 lbs. that are made for a single ATV or bike. I came very close to buying one of them and just throwing the 2nd ATV in my bed. The biggest problem was price.

A friend converted his 16' enclosed trailer into a toyhauler for about $3500 (actually did a good job too !!!). He built a split frame bed in the rear that folded up to the walls when the bike was loaded. It has a small countertop, shower, closet, microwave, A/C, a small fresh tank, and a small grey tank. He throws his generator in the back with the bike. He didn't go overboard building it, but it still comes in at about 4500 lbs with my bike. I can tow it, but anything above 50 mph, I start to get wagged.

I have a 1995 Wrangler (manual 5 speed) that came with 4.0 L stock. I swapped in a GM Performance 350 ci V-8 rated at 290 hp and 326 ft/lb (GM Performance 12499529 - GM Performance 350 C.I.D. 290 HP Engine Assemblies - Overview - SummitRacing.com) and also 4.56 ring and pinion set. It will tow. You may want to consider that option and get the toy hauler you really want.

That's a pretty good deal, but not sure if the conversion would be worth it in the end. By the time you buy the engine, accessories ( intake, fuel rail, computer reprogramed, etc), tranny, diffs, etc, you probably got $6K + in it, right ? Then you still got a relatively small vehicle trying to pull a heavy trailer. It'll get wagged, hard. JMHO.

But I admit, it would be a BLAST to drive without a trailer

I was able to use factory tranny and I went from fuel injection to 4 bbl carb. so no computer now. Big ticket items were 4" lift kit (heavier V-8 caused some clearance issues) and engine-to-tranny adapter, and of course the labor. You're probably right about wagging -- hadn't considered that.
