Trailer Weight

Has anyone in the US been pulled over (or know of someone who was pulled over) by the DOT/Police to have their truck and camper weighed to make sure you were within the GVWR/GCWR/GAWR limits? I've never seen or heard of anyone in all the time I've been driving. So I was just curious to know of others experiences.

Happens frequently outside of Pismo Beach Sand Dunes area.

Weighing not needed.........just a quick check of Data Plate on trailer which shows GVWR

No fines for GVWR but definitely for wrong drivers license

Easy monies from fines for 'improper licensing'......
CA requires a Non-Commercial Drivers License for travel trailers weighing over 10,000 pounds GVWR, not used for hire and fifth-wheel travel trailers weighing over 15,000 pounds, not used for hire

Is it time for YOUR medication or MINE

In Florida if tow vehicle is registered under 8000 lbs (perfectly legal to register your net (curb) weight) they are unable to enforce any weight violations. Neighbor works the weigh station on I95 and told me the hotshot guys use the loophole regularly hauling 4 cars with a 1 ton pickups. They are not considered “heavy” commercial so not regulated.
