Water pump and chlorine bleach

For sanitazition purposes I added 16-20oz. of chlorine bleach to my freshwater tank of my TH and then filled it up with about 40-50 gals. of water. Then I ran the water through all of the plumbing and now it seems that my water pump has met its maker . Is that possible or is this just a coincidence?

BTW the pump is the original which is about 2yrs. old.

I don't know if the bleach caused the pump to die... but thats a whole lotta bleach for 40-50 gallons! I use 1/4 cup for every 15 gallons of water and I fill all 150 gallons.... whew! your tank must be a stanky tanky by now!

I can see it now- just as clear as day..."hummmm...seems like a 1/4 cup just isn't enuff Gertrude! Heck...whadaya say we pour in the whole bottle"!

Hey CP...just kiddin'. And actually as I think about it (STILL tryin' to think exactly how much 16-20oz is in 'cups', but that 800mg Motrin and Malibu/OJ is startin' to kick in)! I'll be sleepin like a baby's buttt in no time...
