2 Yr Old Opens Screen Door

We have a 267bhs trailer. Our 2 year old can slide the slide back and open the screen door. Is there a way to lock this?

Joel

My 18 mo old did the same thing when we got ours. But he tumbled out down the steps before I could grab him. I put a eye and hook on the screen door.

Hope it helps you like it did me.

The RV mfg's don't seem to care about small children or pets getting out screen doors. The latches are almost made for escapes and accidents. On our screen door there is nowhere to screw in a hook and eye. We don't know how we're going to remedy this as we have a cat that can open the screen door in a second.

How did you screw them into the narrow shallow screen door frame?

My Sena, who is my perpetual 2 year old, can open the screen door and will let Lily, the puppy, out. When it's ok for Sena to go out, but not Lily, I loop a lanyard (saved from a rally name tag) thru the hand hold next to the door, out the open slide space and clip the metal piece to the door hardware on the outside. That way Sena can go in and out, but Lily can't. It's easy for me to unclip when I want out and I can also secure the screen door from the outside if I want to keep Lily in.

I found a spot on the edge that was not gonna interfere with anything. Drilled a pilot hole and self tapped the eye in. The hook is on the wall. When I get my camper back I will take a pic.

I have no idea what this looks like. Can you put a picture of it here?

How did you screw it into the narrow flimsy frame of the screen door? Where did you find the width needed?

We finally did something like that and used a spring hook but the frame is so think and flimsy on the screen door. I hope it doesn't split the frame or pull out.
