2002 travelaire TT250 leaks

looking for some help on how to seal up my 2002 travelaire TT250.

from the beginning of the story.

Late last fall while I was cleaning the out side of my trailer I noticed
one of the hard walls was starting to delaminate, I stopped by travelaire in person
in red deer to ask questions and see if there was anything they could do.
this turned out to be a waste of time, they didn't want to help in any way
other than to give me a couple copies of the blue prints.

so my next step was the make an insurance claim, I was very lucky and ended
up getting a pay out, not enough to replace the unit so I bought it back.
this process took 6 months and during this time the delamination has
effected 3 more areas of the 3 walls.

A couple weeks ago I put the unit into a shed and started to take things apart,
what I found was very wet roof along the edges, and very wet under the fiberglass
of the walls.

I can not see any problems with the roof, all of the trim caps were very well stuck on,
seals on the roof show no signs of leaks, all I found that explains the water
was silicone caulking that was put under the trim that holds down the rubber roof
which extends down the side walls. it appears that the joint in the middle of the trim
piece was letting water under the trim and the silicone was holding this water
causing it to wick up under the rubber roof.
also I found signs that water was backing up on the ends of the trough up the
plastic trough end thing , which had no sealer of any kind on it.

Now for my questions should there be sealer between the wall and the rubber roof? I have been told conflicting opinions on this topic.

I would love to get any input on my problems with this unit in the hopes that it
will help me seal it up and stop any further damage.

I will post further findings and observations about the quality of my travelaire
trailer as I find them.
pictures to follow in about 3 weeks when I hope to have it dried out and on its
way back together.

Hello Matt! Welcome to irv2.com! Your explanation sounds like you have repairs in progress. I have never seen or heard of any quality RV repair business using silicone for sealant on a RV. Silicone works well in some applications but RV's seem not to be one. There are some very knowledgable RV repair persons at irv2.com, hopefully they will find your topic and respond.
