2014 Wind River Exterior

I've been looking for info about the 2014 Wind River exterior fiberglass. can't find anything about it anywhere. Just wondering what the expected lifespan of it might be. I'll keep looking.

OK, found it. It's Lamilux but not sure if it's the 1000 or 4000. 4000 being the better. Seems I was told it is the 4000 but looks more like the 1000 in product description.
I thought we had a full walk roof but info says to put down a 48x48 3/8 ply to work on roof. So how do ya put a cover on?

I guess you would need two 4x4 pieces or a second smaller sheet so you could avoid stepping on the roof as you move, I covered our Komfort trailer by myself, started at the front & worked my way back to the rear of the trailer, reversed the process when I uncovered it.

Highway,

Our friend Dave at OutdoorsRV says he walks all over their RV roofs in the course of his job. Dave says he weighs 225 lbs, so I am safe (and my rig's roof) for another 10 lbs.

I weigh about 170 so my roof is probably OK with me on it.
Still looking for info on Lamilux. Called Northwood and spoke to a guy that knows less than I do. Not going to cover this TT so the sun will be a factor. I might give Dave a call.

Visited OutdoorsRv plant in La Grande Oregon yesterday. While there I asked if it was OK to walk on our Wind River's roof. I was assured that it was OK, ironically the answer was given to me while two employees of ORV were walking on our trailer's roof. We had a few small issues which were remedied ... Better than new. We were treated like old friends as a team of ORV elves climbed inside and outside our trailer doing all kinds of improvements far beyond anything on our request list. NOTE TO ORV trailer owners....check all seals every 3 months and reseal every year. They showed us how to do this. We were already fans now fans and friends.

Does your RV have a ladder? If so it should be ok to walk on. (Per Forest River dealer)
They said don't walk on one that doesn't come with a ladder. Sorta makes sense.

I'm here to tell you guys, ALL roofs are fine, ladder or no ladder. They are a minimum of 3/8" decking. If it feels unsafe, don't walk on it. A few (FEMA units) were built with 1/4" lauan. Don't walk on those.

I'll also say that if it's a "smooth" exterior, it has a filon glass board that has been gel coated, most likely. It's the substrate it was adhered to that is different. Coachmen uses Azdel composite, NOT wood. What's this "Wind River" use for their substrate for the filon?

After research, this is Lamilux:

"Lamilux 1000 (.045)
- Most popular, standard filon exterior skin
- Bright high-gloss white with slight fiber hair texture
- Stocking 102 inch wide rolls
Lamilux 4000 (.065)
- High-glossed, polished look mostly used on luxury RV’s
- Stocking 102 inch wide rolls"

It's only the filon glassboard exterior. They ALL have that. You need to dig into what that filon is adhered to, and the bigger construction and insulation picture of the trailer.

Lifespan depends on you. If you leave it in direct sun/weather 24/7 and NEVER do anything to it, I'd still give it 3yrs till it's terrible. If you actually do your maintenance (90 days is for any unit) then it can be for as long as you keep it.
