25 Percent Grade ???

Checking out Amicalola Falls State Park and Lodge in northern Georgia and a comment of a 25 percent grade into the camp sites, never have towed in the hills yet, should this be a concern ???

25% is a pretty steep grade. Most of the interstates have a max of 6-7%, state highways 10% +/-. The standard 4/12 pitch on a roof is 33.33%

I would be concerned with my unit unless it is really short.

If you are close a drive there in the toad to check it out would be my advice. If you are comfortable with what you see go for it.

Yeah, I would call that severe, but not impossible to manage with the right setup and mindset.

I would be concerned about my shorts.
Coming back down 25% grade, just make sure your rig remembers how to snow-plow. Gravtiy can hurt. Stopping takes on a whole new dimension when the physical weight of the rig adds into the equation.

Sounds steep, but for how long? What distance does the grade cover? Besides the angle of ascent/departure-- short, paved sections of 25% should not be too much of a problem, unless overloaded/underpowered. If not paved, traction might also be a problem.

The steepest grade that I have ever been on was a 35% grade while visiting the Columbia Icefield in Jasper NP in the Canadian Rockies.

Obviously they have a very specialized vehicle to transport people to and from the Icefield down and up this 35% grade.

I would not be on any grade with my RV over 10%. I did one 10% grade on a shortcut that I had saw on the map for the Alaskan Highway. I won't be taking that shortcut ever again.

A 25% grade, you're asking for trouble no matter how long it is.

It all depends on what speed you are looking at. Secondary road with 25 mph limit can be easily managed at 2nd gear, 1st in the worst case scenario. If other campers made it there, you will also

I've had my previous coach (38ft DP) up there. I did not tow up or down the hill. Going up was no problem. Slow, but it's not a real long pull, maybe a mile or two. Going down was a little hairy. I used the exhaust brake and had my foot real near the brake pedal the whole way down. Made it with no problems.
It's a nice park. Be sure to hike the falls, but wear comfortable shoes. It's a lot of steps.
