50 to 30 amp adapter

I tripped the 30 amp breaker a couple of times at a campground and the guy on the next site told me to get an adapter to plug on the 50 amp side so It won't trip the breaker cause I won't use 50 amps. Will it mess up my camper with too much current? It goes from a four prong plug on one side to a three hole female. Does anyone use one?

Yep, very common, won't hurt a thing as your rigs breakers won't let it draw more than 30 amps.

Yes we use one any time the pedestal has a 50 amp service. You can overload the shore line as it is only 10 ga (for 30 amps) and the 50 amp uses a heavier 8 gauge wire. Once the electricity gets to the circuit breaker box, it will protect the rest of the coach from excessive current.

It is definitely worth the little investment. I have some how acquired 2 of these and now most recent MH is wired for 50 AMP.

I always have one with my trailer. Often the rv park will only have 50 amp and you will need the adapter

My trailer is 30a, but the previous owner split the bus bar in the breaker box and added another main breaker and wired it with a 50a cord. I have almost all of the available adapters - both step up and step down, including the twist lock generator adapters. My generator is 4 wire and my home tender cord is 3 wire. Never know when you might need them. I even have the 20a step up to 50a so I can have the fridge and converter on for 12v (only) when parked somewhere that does not have RV electrical plugs. I even keep a 30 to 20a adapter so I can plug into another campsite outlet to run an extension cord if needed (or to loan to one of my tent camping friends).

Amazon has it (of course)
https://www.amazon.com/Camco-55173-M...+amp+to+30+amp

My local Ace Hardware has them also (I'm in Florida, so lots of RVs around, I presume not all Ace Hardwares will have an RV section).

Using the 50 amp male to 30 amp female will sometimes put you on the other leg of the circuit and you may get a higher voltage will will lower your amp draw on the A/C unit.

Voltage the same, amperage may differ with the breaker.

Will that potentially damage the AC unit?
