54x74 Queen mattress

Local dealer telling me trailers with this size mattress sell like crazy. A regular queen is 60x80in. Our current mattress is a short queen (60x74) and I keep telling DW that the 6 inches on the width will be a problem. She claims not. Dealer says they sell units with this size mattress like crazy.

My question--Can you (couples) that have the short and narrow queen let me know if you have any issues with the width?

Ie, do you just get along with it for the weekend? or is it perfectly suitable for full timing?

width

your mattress is short in length by 6 inches. most TT's are sold with them.

My keystone outback has one. The shorter mattress gives one room to walk

around the front.

My sticks and bricks mattress is a full size and that seems to be what your mattress works out to be. Works for us - we have always shared a full size bed and we are not small people

Our previous TT was 54x80, which was the dinette made into a bed. I had to find a full xl mattress, which I did on Wayfair. The width was not an issue as it was as wide as our house bed. The extra length was usually taken up with books, extra blankets etc. at the bottom. It gave me the room to crawl into bed.

Our current short queen TT 60x74 mattress usually has a body pillow next to the wall, so we lose most of that extra six inches width anyway. The dog is the one that benefits from the wider mattress. Our new TT has the partial walk around at the foot of the bed for me to use to get into bed.

So, I suppose it depends on what you and your wife are used to sleeping in - if you have a 60" width bed normally, losing that 6" may be a deal breaker. We normally have a 54" width bed, so gaining that extra 6" width when camping is nice, but not a reason we bought the travel trailer. The fact that it was a dedicated bed on a platform, instead of a dinette made into a bed, was the reason.

I still solo tent camp, so anything that is an upgrade from my cot & sleeping bag (which is actually pretty nice, better than being on the ground) is a luxury when camping.
