Air in Water System
Last year I noticed that every once in a while the water pump would cycle on for a second and then turn off (it seemed like it was always in the middle of the night and wake me up). I figured it was a check valve that was going bad. This year the water pump could not be left on...it was cycling on and off every 15-30 seconds. I replaced the water pump today figuring that would resolve the issue. Well, after I installed it and was running water through it I was constantly getting air spurts and it would sometimes cycle on and off. No matter what, when I turned it off for a bit and then back on it would essentially act like it was the first time putting water in....a bit of a build up of pressure followed by air spurts, etc. I don't see any leaks anywhere. What could it be? My gut says there must be a crack in a line somewhere, but wouldn't I be seeing water leaking somewhere?

It could also be your pickup tube is floating near the top of the tank....total PITA. If you have access to a boroscope camera you can sanitize it and look into your tank from the gravity fill to rule it out.

Air in system comes from on place.........suction side of pump
Suction line, clamps, strainer, winterizing valve/line, pump casing
Discharge side of pump would leak water OUT

I wouldn't expect it to LEAK if it's spitting air. To intake air the bad spot has to be on the input side of the pump, somewhere between the water tank and the pump. Start following the water line backward from the pump to see if there is a loose fitting or cracked line.
Edit: Dang it, Old Biscuit beat me to it, by virtue of typing less.

All good possibilities. Since the behavior changed when the new pump was installed, I would start by focusing on the pump connections and things near the pump that may have been disturbed by the installation activities. Keep in mind the new pump may have introduced a new issue and the old issue may still be present.
New Pump issues:
Pump input chamber may be cracked or have a bad seal.
Fittings on the pump input line may not be tight or have faulty seals.
The valve for putting antifreeze in may have been bumped.
Flexible hose connecting the new pump may have cracked.
Careful inspection of other things around the new pump area may reveal other possibilities.
Old pump cycling issue:
Does the new pump cycle frequently? If so, there may be a check valve on the water line to the pump input. If so, it may be the cause of frequent pump starts.

So, now I feel stupid. When I installed the pump I also added a screen filter. When I installed it I thought I tightened everything really well, but when I checked tonight I was able to get about a 1/4 turn to make it tight. I was sure it wasn't enough to make a difference, but that was the culprit. I am amazed that having it just that little bit loose was causing so many problems. Anyway, thank you for your help. I swear, in the past few years of trailer ownership I have learned a ton, and yet I still have so much more to learn.

Thanks for posting the resolution. Your question helped others understand potential issues causing the symptom.

I've always been in the habit of only turning the pump on when I'm going to use the sink or the bathroom. Never leave it on overnight. There's a switch in the bathroom to turn it on if you're going to use the toilet.
