If you boondock a lot and get a residential fridge, you'll need to hook it up to an inverter and run it off your battery bank. Residential fridges don't run on propane.

Exactly. We don't know how old or what model his RV is and whether he has a converter or an inverter. If he was to install an inverter and a residential fridge the costs would add up fast plus a lot of wiring to do. We don't know how big his battery bank is either or what type batteries he has in the bank.

Years ago I had a propane frig. fixed at a gas co. here locally. I took the cooling system out and took it to them and they repaired and charged it. I put it in and it worked perfectly until I sold it 3 years later. cost was way less than a new cooling system less than 100.00. any HVAC or refrigeration shop should be able to fix it.

I want to thank all of you for your info. I have an outside kitchen and the fridge is the one w/the leak. I turned it off & left it open. There is still a faint smell, but for the most part the smell is gone
