antenna ia a fixed mount unit in center of roof. control is a toggle swithch that goes from cable to antenna, with only a red light visable.

That's not cable to antenna, that is your booster you're turning on/off.

How old are your tv's? The reason i ask if they pre 08 probably not digital then you will need a converter box or new tv's.
My 07 jayco had analog tv's and i had to upgrade to digital to get channels.
Now when we camp and no cable we just raise antenna point it towards closes town and do a channel search. We usually get the major stations enough to watch for adverse weather and such.

Assuming that you have a booster, when you switch to ant, it turns the booster on (as indicated by the red light.) When you select cable, the booster is turned off (as indicated by no light.)

Switch it to Ant if watching tv off of the antenna or switch it to cable if your in a park with cable hook up. Saucer like antennas on the roof are omnidirectional and only have a range of about 25 miles.
