Awaiting our first Minnie

Hello, all! I’m happy to have found this forum of Minnie owners and am enjoying reading through all the recos, modification ideas and watch outs. Our new Minnie 2250ds should be arriving any day and we can hardly wait to take it out for a test run. It’s not our first camper, but the first brand new one. We looked at a lot of different makes and models before settling on the Minnie but we were both impressed with the quality of this one for the price. Fingers crossed we made a good choice. Time and travel will tell!

Well folks, the 2101DS is now gone and we are the proud owners of a brand new 2018 2250DS.

Congratulations, we just pulled our new 2250DS home Friday. Here is the Minnie Towable forum.

Congrats! What made you choose this model? For me it was all the storage and larger kitchen area.

We had been pulling a 22" 2101DS for the past 4 years and just decided we wanted a larger trailer. I started looking on the internet at floor plans and this one looked the best for our needs. We were camped at Blanco State Park TX and found a dealer in Kyle TX (just south of Austin) who had a good selection. We made a deal on a Platinum one on Thursday and pulled it home on Friday. We had a lot of help on the selection from a Minnie Winnie group on Facebook. Send me a PM and we will exchange email addresses.

Ken

Under the slide the trim on the bottom of the open has water on it. Any ideas?
Here is a sure slide leak fix that I did on our 2101DS but it was too late. About 6 months after I stopped the leak I had to spend $3200 to have a section of the floor and bracing replaced under the slide. Unfortunately the 2101DS has a poor slide sealing system compared to our new 2250DS.

Go to Lowes and buy a roll of self adhesive foam 3/4" wide and 1/4" thick. With the slide in lightly mark, or use masking tape to outline the area where the slide seal meets the side of the Minnie. Install the foam tape on the side of the Minnie. That is all there is to it.

winnebagosmh - it is really easy to live out of a trailer. Are you going to try to winter in it in Pa.? If so, then winter will be hard. Lots to do to get it ready. Trailers are not really insulated very well. Even the best het cold easy. Not like a house. Thin walls do not keep cold out.

If you are going to tow it south for the winter then that makes it easier.

You will like a Mini Plus. Very nice trailers. I was a snowbird for 5 years. A great way to live. Never too hot, Never too cold. I would tow between Florida and the Pa. mountains, Blue Knob State Park. Nice and cool in the summer.

You will want an oscillating electric heater to take the chill out of the trailer. In Jan/Feb there is no place in the country that does not get chilly. Nights get chilly but days are warm. Maybe an electric blanket. That is all.
