For those with solar setups, we are currently plugged in and will be for the next few weeks at various campgrounds. My solar can keep the batteries charged and alive thought about unplugging the convertor so that I don't overcharge them plus don't hear the slight humming.

If you have a 3 or 4 stage converter you can leave it on. There is no risk of over charging.

Unplugging it to stop the noise makes sense of it bothers you.

I have my solar on, while plugged in, for 3 weeks now.

It's the same with driving and having the alternator and solar on. No problem.

I seldom turn on the converter in the PA. The 600w of solar through a quality Morningstar controller takes much better care of the batteries.

The converted is located under the refrigerator and simply plugs into a 120vac outlet there. I installed a inline wireless controlled switch to its power cord, so easy to turn on/off as desired.

Mine is under the stove. I like the idea of a remote on/off. What model did you use?
