Atwood g6a-8e water heater question

Last year when we purchase our new TT we were told by the dealer sales and during walk thur that we had a dual electric/propane water heater.

On the control panel with the trailer switch there a section for water
heater one for Gas and one for Electric.

When we ran out of gas one trip this year it would not heat. So I posted something awhile back which was suggested a burned out heating element.
Well during my research for a part number for model g6a-8e I discover
this is not a combo model at all. But a gas(propane) with a electric
starter.

So my only question is why the propane switch on the panel that lights up. Do these switch trigger some release relay to supply gas to the heater
in addition to the electric lighter?

Thanks.

Yes, that is a gas only water heater.

No magic to the switch on these DSI units.... it simply turns on the control board for the water heater.

If the light on the rocker switch comes on and stays on thats normal. If there is a seperate light then that illuminates until either a flame is detected or when the flame goes out.
