Awning screws pulled out

Just wondering if any one has a good fix for getting lag screws to tighten up on Awning where the bracket screws into the side of the RV the place where you can detach the awning legs I have tried anchors and now from .25 diam screws to 5/16" they still won't tighten up Thinking about trying to get some epoxy in the holes and set up however things are not going good for me at this point Thanks for any help on this issue. They got stripped out when some one was putting down the awning.

You should contact the manufacturer, the screws may go in to sheet metal, plywood, aluminum studs or wood studs. Without knowing what is in there, it is only a guess, and a successful repair is doubtful.

awning fix

1. whats behind the screws on the insude.

2 if you can drill straight thru, you could use a bolt with washers on

both sides with a cap nut on the inside. plywood, fiberglass etc.

are not good for screws neither is a larger screw gonna work.

Friends had theirs pull out just like that. The fix was a couple of metal plates attached first to get new screw holes into the wood then attach the awning back to the plate. I believe a relative of theirs worked at an RV dealer and fabbed it up for them but it didn't look all that difficult. Could probably get all the stuff at Home Depot. Go for stainless or aluminum so it won't rust or paint the plate to match.
