Bathroom fan
I would like to replace my one speed bathroom exhaust fan with a three speed fan. I have seen several fans kits on line but none that has the knob to raise and lower the top that is in the same place as mine. I would rather not replace the top portion and have to break the seal on the roof. any suggestions.

Welcome to iRV2.
I haven't seen any kits to convert a standard bathroom fan to three speed.
But replacing the whole assembly is not difficult or time consuming. Sealing the new unit to the roof is just a matter of having the correct sealant at hand.

Take a look at the VortexII fan. I think you will find it is a direct drop in replacement without any work required on your roof. Google it.

The first few rigs we had came with those cheap, inefficient single speed fans. Then we found the Fantastic Fan units and have had them in every rig since. Wouldn't have anything else now.

There is one made by Hengs Industry.
I used there single speed fan in the bathroom works very well.
Took all of 20 mins to install and its installed all from the inside. And has a crank knob that replaces the factory one.
And they also had a 3 speed fan option.

The Multi-speed fans he's talking about are things like Fantastic Fan and Maxx Air.
Frankjly If I were doing it I would go with teh Maxx but FF is good too
Breaking the seal and re-dicor-ing it is no biggy.

I bought two hengs fans which are single speed. They are very loud and the plastic is poorly made. I would buy something else with better quality next time. They did install from inside and do not require outside parts replacement or reseal.

I've bought several Heng's Vortex fans over the years. While they are noisier than the Fantastic fans, they're a little quieter and move a lot more air than the original vents. They don't require any roof-top work and have a built-in knob to raise and lower the lid. Plus they are about $100 less expensive than the other options. All-in-all, they're a good value, without as much work to install, and they have held up well.

Yup - the Fantastic fans are . . . . well fantastic. They come in various models all the way to variable speed, reversing and with rain sensors. Best thing to reduce the A/C bill.

Well two years on our Hengs fan no issues with rattles or noise. But some people don't really know how to install the simple things without issue.
And yes the fantastic fan is quieter but really it's in a bathroom not in the front room.
And with having ulcerative colitis I don't mind a fan with a bit of noise to it and also the fact this fan pulls all smell and moisture out of the bathroom is very nice.
